Solomon Spero, birth 1875 London Middlesex England, died 26 Mar 1959 Miami, FL, buried 28 Mar 1959 MT Nebo Cemetary Miami FL, occupation: Merchant, Source Received from Richard van Proctor Sol Spero immigrated with his brother Samuel immigrated to the US via Canada Abt 1905. Sol was the son of Colman and Sarah Spero of London England. Colman Spero and his wife Sarah with their daughters Annie, Ray, Lillie, Rebecca and Jenny came di rectly to the US. Accompanying Colman Spero and his family was Catherine Staal, who had previously met Sol Spero in London England. The Spero family first resided in the cities of Everett MA and Revere MA. On or about 1907, Sol Spero and hi s brother Samuel immigrated to the US and rejoined the Spero family. The family soon divided again with part of the family moving to and residing in NY City, NY. Sol Spero and Catherine Staal Spero married in 1909. and resided at 73 Pleasant Street Wakefield, Massachusetts. Sol and his brother Samuel opened a small furniture store in the Town of Wakefield, which after a few years grew to be one of the la rgest furniture stores in the US at that time. Catherine died in 1943 after a long illness. Catherine was buried in Knights of Zaslav cemetery in Everett MA. After the death of Catherine Spero in 1943, Sol Spero lived with his daughter Madelin e Spero Ruthfield at 3 Cedar Place in Wakefield Massachusetts for several years. Later he retired and remarried Miriam van Horn and they resided in Miami FL. Sol Spero died in 1959 and was buried in MT Nebo Cemetery in FL. In 1920 she was joined by her brother Michael and then later her sister Esther. After first livin g in Everett MA, Catherine Staal married Sol Spero . They were acquainted with each other in England prior to coming to this country. They married in 1909 and lived at 73 Plesant Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Catherine and Sol had two chi ldren: Frances Spero Zack born in 1910; and Madeline Spero Ruthfield biorn in 1913. Catherine died in 1943 at age 63 after a long illness. She is buried in the Knights of Zaslav Cemetery in Everett MA. |

1) Frances Louise Spero, birth 21 May 1910 Wakefield, MA USA, died 28 Nov 1998 Quincy MA, buried 30 Nov 1998 Sharon, MA, USA, Source Received from Richard van Proctor Frances Louise Spero, daughter of Sol and Catherine (Staal) Spero was born 21 May 1910 to Maurice Zack ths son of Abraham and Annie Zack of Quincy MA. They resided at 101 Samoset Ave, in the Merrymount section of Quincy. After a long illness Fra nces died 28 November 1998. Frances was laid to rest with her late husband Maurice in the Sharon Memorial park in Sharon MA. Frances was the mother of three sons 6 grandchildren and a great grand child. to: Morris Zack, birth 15 Jul 1910 Quincy MA, died 12 Dec 1991 Quincy MA, buried 14 Dec 1991 Sharon, MA, USA, occupation: Merchant, Source Received from Richard van Proctor Maurice Zack, son of Abraham and Annie Zack resided in Quincy Ma one of three children. Maurice had a younger brother Isadore Zack, and a Sister Bertha Zack. At the date of this entry both are still alive and living in the Quincy. At an earl y age, Maurice's father Abraham was severly injured and later died from his injuries in an occupational related accident. Maurice and his mother, the opened a Clothing store in Qunicy MA, a business which Maurice continued to operate for more tha n 60 years before retiring. Maurice died 12 November 1991. Maurice is laid to rest in the Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon MA. |

He was accompanied by his mother Freidel, his father Schlema, his brothers Idel (Edward), Mendel (Max) and a sister Rifka (Rebecca) know n as Betty. They settle in the Dorchester section of Boston. Also coming with them was his great uncle Hyman Ruthfield. ( Note: In Zaslav, the family name was Rudfeld. when pronounced with the Russian intonation, the name sounded more like Rut field, and thus became Anglicized to Ruthfield in the US.) Abraham started a ladies clothing and apparel business in Boston which he maintained more than 50 years. Abraham was a Mason a member of the Everett C. Benton Lodge of Masons for more than 50 years and a member of the Shriners. In addition, Abr aham was the founder of Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield MA, a life long supporter and benefactor of the Temple. Abraham, in 1936 married Madeline Staal Spero and resided at 3 Cedar Place in Wakefield, MA. with their two sons Richard and Barry. Madeline Ruthfield continues as of this writing to reside at 3 Cedar Place , Wakefield. Abraham died on 12 Novem ber 1986 after a long illness. He is buried in the Knights of Zaslav Cemetery - Ruthfield |
