In 1920 she was joined by her brother Michael and then later her sister Esther. After first livin g in Everett MA, Catherine Staal married Sol Spero . They were acquainted with each other in England prior to coming to this country. They married in 1909 and lived at 73 Plesant Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Catherine and Sol had two chi ldren: Frances Spero Zack born in 1910; and Madeline Spero Ruthfield biorn in 1913. Catherine died in 1943 at age 63 after a long illness. She is buried in the Knights of Zaslav Cemetery in Everett MA. to: Solomon Spero, birth 1875 London Middlesex England, died 26 Mar 1959 Miami, FL, buried 28 Mar 1959 MT Nebo Cemetary Miami FL, occupation: Merchant, Source Received from Richard van Proctor Sol Spero immigrated with his brother Samuel immigrated to the US via Canada Abt 1905. Sol was the son of Colman and Sarah Spero of London England. Colman Spero and his wife Sarah with their daughters Annie, Ray, Lillie, Rebecca and Jenny came di rectly to the US. Accompanying Colman Spero and his family was Catherine Staal, who had previously met Sol Spero in London England. The Spero family first resided in the cities of Everett MA and Revere MA. On or about 1907, Sol Spero and hi s brother Samuel immigrated to the US and rejoined the Spero family. The family soon divided again with part of the family moving to and residing in NY City, NY. Sol Spero and Catherine Staal Spero married in 1909. and resided at 73 Pleasant Street Wakefield, Massachusetts. Sol and his brother Samuel opened a small furniture store in the Town of Wakefield, which after a few years grew to be one of the la rgest furniture stores in the US at that time. Catherine died in 1943 after a long illness. Catherine was buried in Knights of Zaslav cemetery in Everett MA. After the death of Catherine Spero in 1943, Sol Spero lived with his daughter Madelin e Spero Ruthfield at 3 Cedar Place in Wakefield Massachusetts for several years. Later he retired and remarried Miriam van Horn and they resided in Miami FL. Sol Spero died in 1959 and was buried in MT Nebo Cemetery in FL. It is unknown when Mir iam van Horn died and where she is buried. |
